The Bash & The Bashing

Tokyo Loose's 2nd anniversary weekend is going well. The free tequila shot night last night had me speaking spanish by 2am. Miho was there, the girl would run through a brick wall for free alcohol. She had a blast cuz all the guys were hitting on her and telling her how beautiful she was while buying her drinks. I also went through 2 bowls of Soba, of the クロけト variety nonetheless.

The USA Basketball team lost to Argentina. Check out this article by Dick Vitale on why the IOC needs to put together a better process for picking national basketball teams. Just because a team has a lot of talent does not mean it will always just win, it has to play like a team for it to win. he's on the money. Those guys who said "no" to playing for team USA, you are all fuckers. You should be honored that you would receive such an invitation. Instead you spit on the team, and your fans, by saying no. There is a much higher threat of terrorism at the political conventions than at one of your basketball games. All of the people who are supposed to be at the convention are though. Imagine if John McCain said "no" to being invited to speak at the convention. Think that would float?

Japan has asked the US Military to stop flying CH-53D Helicopters in okinawa after one crashed at a school nearby the base. Seeing as how the massive Typhoon Chaba has southern Japan in it's crosshairs I am sure that the Marines will be more than happy to comply, for now anyway. How convenient no?

I asked Miho if it is always like this during this time year and her reply actually managed to invent a new word. She said "It usually gets a bit typhoony this time of year."

So this is how a conversation between myself and Vinh will most likely go.
Me: So bro, how is it down there?
Vinh: I'm no expert dude, but I would say it is a bit typhoony outside.
Me: がんばって!

Japan will have it's biggest rice harvest in 3 years. Good to hear, rice is about all I can afford right now. Rice is my friend.

Bullet trains, that will bring India straight into the first world. Never mind all the poverty and disease...bullet trains will fix it all.

Tokyo will be leveled within the next 50 years by the "Big One." According to a government study. Then why do they keep beuilding all these new billion dollar redevelopment zomes. I think it would be smarter to wait till after the quake then build. Call me crazy but it might just work.

This story comes out about a week after I emailed some self proclaimed earthquake experts that predict quakes and seem to be reasonably accurate in doing so. I know earthquake prediction is a bit of a farce, but these guys have a success rate similar to a hitter in baseball. About 30% of the time. This is the reply I got in my email from the only one who wrote me back. "Have you read Topic 1 of the Yokohama plan?http://quake.exit.com/copies/topic1.pdfIts 2-vi shows that the Japanese government worryabout weather, floods, etc. except earthquakes, so whydo you want to know them?Sincerely,Zhonghao=====Zhonghao Shou"Earthquake Clouds and Short Term Prediction" Why do I bother asking anyone? I just got a wierd feeling a week or two ago. So I started snooping around the net and found a few guys. Waste of my time.
