My Decision to Vote for Bush...Part 1

Has caused a lot of problems with both family and friends, and even my girlfriend who flat out ates George Bush.

I have many reasons to vote for Bush. Many valid, justified, and educated reasons to do so. No matter how much people try to change my mind and get upset with me in the end it is my choice and I am not going to be the one who is upset because I cast my vote. You cannot get upset at me for voting the way I want, that's what a democracy is.

This is not Afghanistan where a bunch of warlords got on a pirate radio station to proudly announce that in the villages the station reached that if anyone voted for other than Karzai their hut/home would be burned to the ground. Karzai jumped on board with these guys saying it is good to have the support of their communities. Unless you want to take the time to read the reasons I am going to state below and then if you can come up with a better argument than the whole WMD's, troops dying, bad war argument I am all ears. Otherwise, save it.

I will not even bother trying to justify the war in Iraq. I am not voting for him based on that. Although most people are not voting for him based on that. So he made one mistake, a big one. But have we impeached him? No! Clinton was impeached, yet he is still one of the most popular Presidents of all time. I have to let you in on a little secret...Clinton was in the right place at the right time. All of the economic success we enjoyed during his two term in office was a result of both the Regan and Bush Sr. Presidencies. Also, without Alan Greenspan Clinton would have screwed it up. He might well have screwed it up if he hadn't been too busy screwing around with interns all the while. Bill Clinton looked the entire American public in the face and said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." He lied. He then lied to Congress by saying it over again.

Bush never lied. He told the truth based on intelligence he was given at the time. The people who lied are the ones who gathered the intelligence. Bush does not gather intelligence does he? Yes Bush was negligent in using the intelligence before verifying it. That is not in question. BUt Clinton was ngligent in screwing his interns wasn't he?

Clinton was also negligent in regualting big business while he was in office. During his two terms as President the SEC has a "laissez faire" attitude towards companies like Enron, Worldcom, Global Crossing, Adelphia, Tyco, Kmart, etc, etc. People like Jack Grubman, Frank Quattrone, Peter Bacanovic, etc made killings by deceiving investors. People like the ones I used to work for who were busted in "Operation Wooden Nickle." They all made a god damn fortune. In the end they got the Bush govt (mainly my hero Elliot Spitzer) caught up with all of them. It is not like allof this deceiving happened only wihle bush was in office you know. It all minfested in the Clinton era and came to a head after he was gone. All of these companies went bankrupt as a result of their fraudulant practices of several years prior to that. That also sent the economy into a tail spin. When a huge company like Enron goes bankrupt there is a ripple effect. Not only does the company itself have to lay off workers and lower wages and watch it's stock value plummet, but the vendors, contractors, and so on also lose a lot of money when they are no longer needed. Workers are laid off, wages decreased, etc. Another result of Clinton's Presidency. Don't get me wrong, I like Clinton. He was a good President. I am even a Democrat. I just feel that Bubsh has done a great job in certain areas he has gotten zero credit for because of the whole mess in Iraq.

Alot of the economic prosperity seen by the country was a result of huge comapnies like that faking profits and reaping higher stock prices for it. In turn the hundreds of thousands of people who worked for these companies, or their vendors, or their contractors made higher salaries. They, in turn, spent the extra money on consumer goods, services, and so on. Causing consumer goods & services company stocks to rise. The cycle went on and on in one great big circle. I hope you see what I am trying to say here. All of the extra money in the economy while Clinton was Predsident did not really belong there. Before Clinton left office the stock market began to correct itself. The economy was in a downward spiral, unemployment was rising and so on. 9/11 just magnified the problems in the economy and then triggered a mini-recession.

Bush has fixed a majority of the problems in the American economy. Historically low unemployment and interest rates coupled with low inflation, robust growth, etc make the US the strongest ecpnomy in the industrialized world. All while oil prices are at all time highs, which yes of course were cause by the Iraq War. Everything is related. Everything is interlinked. A person harvesting wheat in nebraska has as much to do with the economy as a stock broker on Wall Street.

For anyone who believes Kerry can do a better job fixing the economy let me throw a few numbers at you, raw data straight from the govt. The unemployment rate is only 5.4%. That is a historical low for the past 30 years. 2 million jobs have been created in the last 13 months, according to John Snow in an interview on CNN a few days ago. Construction spending rose 0.8%, Wall Street Analysts were estimating 0.3%. US Retail Sales have risen 1.5%. You know what that means? People are finding jobs and/or making more money. That can be further backed up by the fact that the stock market has been steadily rising, in spite of the fact it lost 107 points yesterday.

I know this is not the most organized of arguments. I am not an author or a journalist. If i was I would be paid for this. Either way it does justify me voting for Bush and that is all I am aiming to do, that and appease my family's unsavory opinion of me right now based on the fact I am a Bush supporter. Regardless, I will further expand on other things in part 2...stay tuned.
