Working in Shinjuku, "Reparations" for New Englanders

Working in Shinjuku is an eye-opening experience akin only perhaps to working in PatPong in Bangkook. Full of transvestites, homeless people, drug addicts, organized crime, etc. It kind of reminds me of TImes Square back in the good ol' days before Giuliani cleaned it all up. Of course I was much younger back then, so I was unable to indulge in the fruits of flesh offered for as low as 25 cents at some places. Even today though, the hookers still walk through TImes Square much like the massagie girls do in Kabukicho.

Whenever a massagie girl says to me "massage sir?" I reply with a grin on my face and a sly "yada," which means "I don't wanna." They all laugh. The transvestites in Kabukicho, however, abide by a different set of laws. Ones I think they write themselves. First off, a trannie should atleast wear enough makeup and speak with a high enough voice to atleast appear to be trying to be a girl. These things don't. Second, I have politely made it clear I am not interested in any of them, but they still moan in my ear when I walk by them. They all like me. Most gays do. It's frustrating because I am not gay. If I was I'd get more ass than a toilet seat.

The homeless people are interesting. They are not the type you think of when you think of homeless poeople. Not like the ones in NY, London, or elsewhere. These homeless people are cool. They are funny, they are fun to talk to. It gives me good Japanese practice. I toss a different one a hundred yen each night. As broke as I am a hundred yen will do them more good then it will me. A Nepalese homeless guy used all of his change one night to buy me a beer. I flat out refused and tried to atleast buy him one and he wouldn't have it, saying in Japanese "Us foreigners look out for each other." Everyone in Japan is soo nice.

The organized crime is a bit different too. The Yakuza gangs run all of the strip clubs, hostess bars, etc. They own most of Kabukicho and the cops look the other way. It is their turf. Cops don't bother them and they do their illegal thing. The Iranians run the drug scene. Cops love to bust them, the Yaks frequently tip off the cops as to who is in charge and toss some money at them so the cops bust them. Yaks frequently start fights with foreigners so the foreigners get arrested. God forbid the cop arrests the Yakuza, it would dishonor him. I am not joking, the cops seriously have a twisted deal with the Yaks. What a country.

A few news items of note:

1.Micheal Moore's appearance on "The Daily Show with John Stewart" was great. He admitted he is not fair and very partisan. Most partisan people e.g. Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan are partisan but say they are fair. Moore said "I have an agenda and an opinion that I am sharing with the public the is backed up by irrefutable facts. Whether or not they agree with it is up to them." Seems fair to me. Call me crazy but, Micheal Moore is a genious.

2. Apparently the Marine captured in Iraq by the insurgents was beheaded. I have said it before and will again. I believe that punishments should be "an eye for an eye." As each one is captured we should take them alive and behead them with a hacksaw much like they do to us westerners. I know two wrongs don't make a right. But they have made their point and it is time for us to reinforce ours.

3. Alledgedly one person won the 290 million dollar Mega-Millions jackpot. The winner lives in Lowell, Mass. I guess that's god's way of giving back to the New England community after the Yanks thrashed the Sox this week. The poor Red Sox fan got his "reparations." HAHAHA!

4. The lead is now 7 1/2 games!! GO YANKEES!!!! So what if they lost to the Mets. Atleast Shane Spencer got the game winning hit. Also, Derek Jeter is GOD.
